pleased with how its come together, could probably still use a bit of tweaking but for a quick build, first time using some of these materials, and something generic, I'm fairly happy :+)

I'll have a look in greater depth but first glance looks good. Great to see this style of kit.

Can you look a bit more grizzly and mean though!

You're right.
I really should have worked on the 'grizzly and mean' part some more beforehand
hopefully not gonna hold me back from clearance......

thank you!

On the whole, I really like what you've done. It's great work and that flak vest is top DIY stuff.

I don't think you'll have any problems but there are a couple of points that come to mind.

Your 58 pouches on the back would look better with some foam in them, to give them shape.

The aerial on the radio looks as little long, Melshi's appears a bit shorter. The radio looks a bit new and clean and would have a better feel if dirtied up a bit, maybe some drybrushing on the edges. The yellow looks a bit pronounced in a similar way. I've seen the radios with the yellow stripe not have the aerial, doubt it's a problem though.

I can't see the collar on the brown undershirt, the standard mentions it being there but I would imagine you've taken that into account.

I'm really impressed with what you've done. I'd welcome your thoughts on the above as there's nothing "wrong" but it's more a look and feel thing. We're generally a bit dirty and scuffed up.

Any thoughts about a blaster? You'e got a great excuse to carry something vastly oversized.

Thanks!

Yea I totally agree with everything you’ve picked up on, I was really looking for base clearance for this weekend so that’s why weathering for some of the smaller stuff took a bit of a back seat.

Would still like to weather the radio and the boots a wee bit more, some matt brown or even some rub n buff for the radio dry brushed on.

I’ve been raiding the kitchen cupboards for any suitable sized boxes to fill out the pouches in a pinch! Hopefully will find or make somethin a bit more long term soon enough.

Promise I have a collar too, just with the vest and scarf and hat and ponytail... unfortunately not the most visible in submission pics. But promise it’s there!

totally get you on everythin you’ve said, could do with a bit more weathering overall on the small bits I feel, just haven’t quite had the time to work on it as much as I’d like to.

And yea! A300 I think, one half of me is wanting to have the most stripped back version I can for comfort and ease of carry... the other half says go for sniper configoration and just have a blaster the size of me. Go big or go home?

Hope you don't mind, I've re-posted your pics to make it easier to see them.

What pattern did you use for the Hoth hat and the jacket? They look great.

Thank you Empathy! Sorry I’m a bit of a numpty and couldn’t figure out how to embed them.

The hat was made by the talented Steven walker for me, and the jacket pattern, I ripped up an old jacket and mocked up in muslin through trial and error so don’t actually have a pattern to give :(

What fabric did you use for the vest? It's got a slight texture to it?

it’s a heavy cordura type canvas, found it on sale at the fabric shop. For outdoor stuff I think, but fairly cheap and close enough and looks the part hopefully?

I think it'd clear as the texture isn't visible until you're close up. A closer match would be a synthetic with no pronounced texture.

yeah, I’d been looking for a nylon based something or other, but I wanted something with a bit of weight to it.

Still thinking about potentially remaking bits when I have money and time anyways.

The texture is honestly even less noticeable in natural lighting, it’s more the delightful fluorescent lights highlighting it slightly more.

The nylon on the US equipment wasn't that heavy, my grenade vest's outer shell isn't that thick. It probably would clear given it's not that overt but it's kind of like an advisory on an MOT and worth considering if you remake it or someone else tries to make one.
