Re: Scarif Marine WIP
Have you got the soft cover and try it over the liner with no shell?
Happiness is a warm A280. Or A300. Even a Glie-44 at a pinch.

I haven't made the soft cover yet, I've got the fabric for it, just need to pattern it

Re: Scarif Marine WIP
Having taken some time to think the helmet through. I got started on the cover. The part that covers the whole helmet is done, as for the ribbed band that covers the middle, it can spread across the whole helmet, but I'm unsure if it's visable at the rim of the helmet after passing under the ring

Re: Scarif Marine WIP
The ribbed part doesn't cover the whole helmet, it's only seen through the top of the blast ring, stopping short of the brim.

Re: Scarif Marine WIP
I asked a friend in the Imperial Scottish Squad if he could 3D print me a shield ring, and I got it today, it fits my helmet, and I got all the wee extra greeblies too. I ordered a helmet band, and currently waiting on it to arrive. I'll paint the ring Olive green to match my gorka.
Does anyone know how the torch parts for together, and is it recommended to glue the cover to the helmet.

Re: Scarif Marine WIP
Band arrived today
I also have a canteen that matches my webbing, can this be used by Scarif Marines?

Re: Scarif Marine WIP
Helmet bands are taken to be rubber. I believe the screen used ones were shark fin shaped sealing strip from Norwegian grenade cases, or a brand of Polish energy drink.
I used a strip of mountain bike inner tube.
Pouches are optional items but standards don't list a canteen pouch as an explicit option:
The head torch would appear to be a rear cap to go on the end of the main tube and a ring clamp with a lug to fit it under the blast ring.
The cloth cover should fit snugly onto the helmet with the helmet liner sometimes holding it in place, it could be glued. I used some velcro to stick the blast ring onto the helmet cover so it can be dismounted but stays on in normal use.

No idea what number 5 refers to, so your pouch may come under that. I know of Serbian/Yugoslavian mess kit (item 7), Danish HTK ammo and UK 58 pattern kidney pouches being used that aren't named above.2. Sterling SMG magazine carrier bandolier
3. Sten Machine Carbine Magazine bandolier
4. Olive French three grenade pouch
5. Olive drab military satchel or pouch
6. Greek Thompson mag pouch with accurate tubes filling the pouch
7. Field ration pouch with accurate emblem

Re: Scarif Marine WIP
Some of the troopers seemed to have a rather large pouch. I think it could be a gas mask bag.BigFatCat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 12:30 pmHelmet bands are taken to be rubber. Re: Scarif Marine WIP
The front apertures can be filled with black foam. There are references showing a small ring in there but it's not always used.

Re: Scarif Marine WIP
I sprayed my ring, went for the Olive green, I'm unsure if this colour is right, but I can weather it up some. I also got some inner tube for bikes, so I can make the band
