Star Wars character no Crl?

Post by TallStu » Mon Sep 28, 2020 4:14 pm

Good afternoon all.
I'm looking for some advice.
I was thinking about doing a main character from Star Wars rebels series in the future.
But I have looked on the main Rebel Legion forum and there is no Crl for the character.
Can anyone help me with this?
If nobody else has done it. How do you go about it!
Any guidance or help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Stuart Logan.

The basic guidance if there is no published standard is to provide references with your application from all sides from a recognised canon source.
Screen caps would be the primary source for Rebels characters. I've known applications like this hampered for not having sufficient or clear refs so pick good clear pics from all sides to help out. Also consider making a standard discussion or expanded wip thread on the main rl forum.
Happiness is a warm A280. Or A300. Even a Glie-44 at a pinch.

When submitting a costume with no standard, the applicant must also provide images of their reference material which must include head to toe and front to back images of the costume. As its a Rebels cartoon costume I can't see you having any problems as long as you reference it. Which character are you thinking? Then we can point you towards which detachment to put your WIP in.

This is from the legion charter:

Costumes eligible for Rebel Legion membership, that do not have written/posted costume standards must include:
1. Two or more images, head to toe, showing the front and back of the costume being created OR a 360-degree head-to-toe turnaround of the character.
2. Additional images may be included to show detail of the costume being created.
3. Resource material may come from any LFL/Disney licensed sources for the character/costume being created.
4. Additional costume details may come from a detailed text-based description, but must have an accompanying visual reference to be considered for creating a Rebel Legion approved costume.
5. For video games: Player generated/edited costumes for game characters (those that are customizable) are not eligible for consideration for Rebel Legion membership.

Also there may be some standards that are in process, but not published yet. You can find those in the standards discussion sections.

Star Wars character no Crl?

Hi Stu,
By the main character of Star Wars Rebels I take it you mean Kanan Jarrus? Or were you thinking of Zeb?

There are a couple of CRLs for kanan floating around so it would depend upon which season you’re referring to. For example the season 3 crl can be found here:

Hi. Thanks for all the advice.
I was really looking at Zeb. One or two people in the states have tried to do him. But nothing happened. This was two years ago.
I've looked to see if there was any background information on him but nobody has created a Crl.
I just think it would be great to see him portrayed in full.
Plus something different from the generic wookiee build..
Zeb is around 2.10metres tall so hopefully easier to match his height.
Also it would be great to hopefully be the first.
😀.

I'm thinking aliens (under supporters - wretched hive at global level- they have a rebels section) but you have elements that would need help from fringe with stilt type Wookie things. At base level that's easy as everyone pitches in.

The first thing would be to gather all the clear screen shots you can and the turn arounds. Then perhaps start looking at people who build the latex alien parts, for a commission, like chris stevens.....or tutorials if you are going to try yourself...not something i know anything about, but we can help you research.

Dont aim to make it first, aim to make it great lol.

Hi Stuart,

I’ve had a good look on the global forum and in particular the wretched hive. Definitely looks like there hasn’t been a CRL created yet but I did find a link to some Pics from celebration after Disney/ LFL brought along a mannequin of him.

Thanks tebebris etc. I've seen a couple of WIP but they never were finished.
I've messaged C.S.C in Belfast. He is going to do some checking. If he can the head etc maybe a commission in 2021. I have the reference numbers for the Pantone colours.
Some have suggested that the material maybe of the wetsuit or cycling fabrics.
Looking at possible patterns for the body suit. I've ordered a black series Zeb orrelios so I can look at the costume, figure in more detail.
If CSC can only do the head then I will look into doing the feet. I didn't need stilts so with the height of the head and feet I should hit 2.10 unless I go taller.

Hi Stuart,

Don’t know if the link will work but if you search for Evil Chimp Fx on YouTube he has a setup that I think would really suit Zebs feet.

Thanks Paul. I've looked up digilegs.
They look right for his feet etc. Wondering if I could do something different. £750 for the standard setup. Mine would probably be bespoke. Since I'm taller than the recommended height of 6ft3.
Nice idea. One to definitely think about. 😀👍

Neoprene material may be suitable for the body suit. I know it’s difficult when the references are from an animation but I think it looks similar. Just an idea.
