Ewok Build!
Hey there everyone. I'm going to begin building an Ewok costume. I look forward to the build.
I think what I'll do first is order some samples of fur fabric the CRL says "Short brown, gray, or black fuzzy fur. Fur may be solid colored or striped as seen on screen. Fur should be matte (not shiny) and have a rough look to it." I quite like the idea of a grey Ewok so I will order some different shades and lengths.

Hi Benjamin! Hope your fur sourcing is going well ... please post up pics once your samples arrive and some of our Ewok costumers will hopefully jump in with comments and advice! As Mark said, what are you going to do for the head? Do you have a supplier in mind or are you going to make it yourself?

Hi there guys. I'll let you know when the samples arrive. I had planned on making the mask myself, I didn't know there were suppliers though. Where can I find them do you know? Thanks :)

Re: Ewok Build!
So I ordered about a dozen samples and I've narrowed it down to these five.

This one has that perfect Ewok sort of length and colour to it. Using this on a whole body will make it a very bright Ewok. It would definitely have to be weathered as well.

I'm trying to decide of whether a striped Ewok is the way to go or just keep it a solid colour. I'm leaning towards solid colour though.

This one is my personal favourite. It's exactly the same look and length as the first one but just dark grey.

This one is a bit shiny which I know is wrong but it's a nice balance between the white and dark grey one.
What do you guys think?

Oooo tough one, just my opinions but I think I’d errr on the side of caution and not go for the shiny as it may look ok on a small patch but may not work on a larger scale.
The one thing I’d probably say is that a bit of variation in tone may help it look slightly more realistic, I quite like the stripe though.

Re: Ewok Build!
I see what you mean when you say a mixture of colours. Could these fabrics work? The first one has more colour variation than the other. but I think there were striped Ewoks.

Re: Ewok Build!
Had a quick look over on the main forum
I think Mark is right about the variation in tone looking more real, the WIP below is a nice example of use of different furs on the face.
http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/ ... hp?t=96784
http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/ ... hp?t=85875
Remember that stripes might need lining up with the pattern pieces when you cut your fabric so they match (I always forget to match patterned fabric, hence mentioning it) and the fur will need to be cut the right way with the pile........again its the kind of thing I forget and have to start over....I put arrows on my pattern pieces to help remind me.
It seems that the main forum seem to be pointing people to a fb group for help......There doesn't seem to be much other help so Just remember to check anything against the CRL's, or refs.

Re: Ewok Build!
Thanks Kaid
I've done some research and I think I can probably make the head myself with some help from you guys.
I think I'm going to go for the grey and black fur. I'll put a pic below.

Would this be clearable?
Also I'm trying to figure out how much I'll need. Any advice?
Whilst I wait for payday so I can afford the fabric. I'm thinking about what other parts of the costume I can get in the meantime.
I think I'll get started on the head with the base and nose etc.
I also need something for the hands and feet, I understand people use yoda hands for this.
One thing I don't know is what could be used for the eyes, and how to tint them.
Thanks :)

1. Short brown, gray, or black fuzzy fur. Fur may be solid colored or striped as seen on screen. Fur should be matte (not shiny) and have a rough look to it.
It might be a bit shiney and neat? If you look at the Ewoks in the pic you put up it is very matt. I think the one above with the stripe looked better....maybe take a shot in natural light as it can be hard to tell in indoor light.

its effectively a jump suit .. use uggs covered in fur DONT forget 3 toes
yes hands use yoda round fingers though no claws
check my facebook you can see my hands on there
you can use baby bottle tops tink with sunglasses reflects even flashes
Nose is effectively a teddy bear nose .. OH and MAKE SURE YOU CAN BREATH ... i use the mouth with snorkel attached so i am actually breathing normally through the mouth works great just covered by teeth
you will need really good quality shammy leather for the hood about 4 meters square .. use the dyno dye ...
this is what i used
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/2518133 ... ch_click=1
gets some wood from a forest and any nice feathers ... acorns etc etc go wild with that stuff it looks ace gives them character ..

I agree with empathy ... NO SHINY its very rough i agree about the stripe comment as well ...tenebris wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 1:53 pm1. Short brown, gray, or black fuzzy fur. Fur may be solid colored or striped as seen on screen. Fur should be matte (not shiny) and have a rough look to it.
