Re: Ewok Build!
Great news, remember to take photos of the samples indoors and in natural light if you can.

The samples arrived, horray!
I like both these combos, I’m thinking the orangey brown one will be the belly and a bit of the face, and the brown will be the rest of it.

I got the body cut out, I really love the colour and how it looks. If y'all happy with it I'll go to the sewing machines :)

Re: Ewok Build!
hey Ben
Its tricky to say as i can't see it in relation to you.....but the shape looks good. Next time I would suggest 'mocking up' first, which is trying out your pattern in cheap fabric or an old sheet to check the shape and size are right, then you can adjust before cutting out the 'real' fabric.
I have my fingers crossed for you though and the colour is really good.
I just pulled these up quick (I'm sure there are better guides) just gives you an idea of how to handle the fur.

Re: Ewok Build!
Finished sewing it together today(woop woop! :) ) I've left some room for padding. you can probs see I've rolled the legs up, there long at the moment, I can make them shorter though. I kind of like the short legs look which you see on some ewoks, what do y'all think.
Next stage will be to get the padding sorted.

Hey Ben,
Hows your movement in it? The crotch looks a little low? Its hard to see from your picture.

Re: Ewok Build!
Movement is okay at the mo but I do see what you mean. I'll do some mock up padding today hopefully that'll bring the legs up a bit. I made it big for now so it's adjustable to get the right fit, I'll grab some photos and stick them up here :)

Re: Ewok Build!
I added some temporary padding and it looks less droopy. Frames the legs a little better too. I added a side view and behind also to show the effect the padding has, it does bring the crotch up a bit, and it is a little higher than what is visible in the photo it just hidden by fur.

Maybe the legs might need taking up a little bit more, I think for now I can work with it, once the rest of the costume is done I'll start adjusting it to look right so it all works together nicely :)

Re: Ewok Build!
Thanks for all your amazing help do far, I'm so sorry all the links are from imgur, for some reason my laptop doesn't let me put them in the forum in picture form. This is quite a long post so I'm happy to try and find another way to actually display the photos if that makes it easier. Really appreciate your patience with this thank you thank you thank you :) :) :)
Thought I'd do an update on the feet and hands. I noticed that the boots I have show narrower than the legs on the body, so I think I'm going to make them a bit bigger with some foam.

The red line around each one is the new size, I'm going to stick them on each side of the boots. Also included the toes in a sorta rough location where they would be.

I'm using yoda hands for both the hands and toes. I'm thinking dark brown for the skin and yellow for the nails.
I stupidly realised I got in a muddle and now I have two left ones and the right ones have been made into toes. This isn't visible with the toes as they're cut up anyway. I have attached some photos of what the hands might look like when they are covered in fur, only the fingers can be seen and to be honest you can barely notice the difference. Could this be a good clearable substitute for now until I get hold of another pair, but of course I understand if this is not clearable :) My fault entirely

These photos are of the right one on me, but it is a left yoda hand if that makes sense

Re: Ewok Build!
So the CRL states that you need fingers and a thumb, honestly I think you will need a left and a right.
3. Two fingers and thumb on the hand; three toes on each foot.
I dont think you need to make the foot bigger, from looking through the facebook book, it looks like the fur makes it bigger? The top ones are Andy's (he's RLUK) and the bottom ones are Kelly Wicks preshaw's
The place to ask would be that group.

Re: Ewok Build!
I see what you mean about the fur, sort of adds an extra layer to it :)
I'll get started on the feet today if it's alright to still use the toes
I'll source another pair of hands aswell

Re: Ewok Build!
did some work on the feet today. You were right in that the fur does make the feet look bugger and blend in with the rest of the body. First photo is taken wearing the costume with the padding and all.

Nothing is stuck together at the mo, literally just laid in such a way that it stays together for the photo so I'll move the toes back a bit as they stick out a bit, and hide the edge of the fabric but super happy with so far :)
