Starting to add the coverings for the top of the hands, I found this reference in the facebook group.

Made a template for the left hand before I go and cut out yet more fur haha :)

Looking to get started on the head

I have a helmet similar to this one that I was using on a past project that I'll use as base

I have these for the eyes, wondering how to make them black, I've seen some people use car headlight tint, is this possible? (Picture from amazon)

I have the fur to cover the head already, just the same colour as the rest of it.

Not sure what to use as a base for the face. I have seen some Ewoks use a basic fancy dress mask of some kind, I have some foam to pad this out to make it look rounder if I go down this route, would this be a good way?

Looking into the best material for the facial features and the ears too, perhaps coathanger wire to make them stand up.

I checked in the group and people suggested car windscreen tint, marker, paint, cheesecloth? I have no idea how that works but apparently there is a tutorial on global RL.

There seems to be a few ways to go with the mask, andi Taylor's is a cast one, the one below his (Shelly Hawkins)looks like a base padded up with foam and sponge.

Here is her build on global:

I pulled these refs from the costume book. I'm a little concerned that your feet look slightly claw like, where as the feet pictured and the other feet that I found in the group, look more toe like.

The eyes might work with a clear outer dome of acrylic/perspex with a painted iris on flat smoked visor acrylic.

Gotcha :) I can shorten the toes down by quite a lot and see how they look, or would you recommend making some different ones? Do they have to look the same as the hands?

I've seen quite a few of my Jawa buddies use sieves and colanders as a base for the face mask , as they provide a nice round shape. Would this be applicable to Ewoks?

When you say use it as a base, what would be the plan? Ewok group is the best place to check. Have you asked?

Made the toes a bit shorter and using photos from the group as a reference. Toes are taped down at the moment but I'll straighten them up when I glue it all in place tomorrow.

I think that looks much better.

Did you ask about the mask base?

Yep and they recommended to use like a mask base instead. So I got looking, and ordered This which arrived a couple of days ago.

I think I'm going to mount it on the helmet with a piece of insulation foam or something in between just to allow a little bit of space for some fans. Maybe a bit like this.
