Not sure if this costume was forced or if I was so dang tired of people asking me to do it that I just decided to get my arse into gear

So far, all of my bits are underway. Someone was kind enough to help me out with the jacket as I practically have little to no time for a project like that. The Jacket will be made out of Kona Cotton in the shade honey, it looks close in colour and it was super good for the money! As closures go I think we will be using snaps or hook and eyes that will be hidden.

Trousers will be made out of a tobacco/mid brown twill - I bought some of the brown before all of the commotion between whether or not her trousers were olive green or brown, so that was LUCKY.

I also bought a rank badge last year ready for this costume which I want to age and rough up a little to make it look more like the one she wore in the movie. The rank badge I bought was this one from interstait - https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/4502179 ... e_42&sca=1

The belt will be made out of pleather and then reinforced with foam and the same with the holster, am I correct in saying it's the same as Poe's holster? Still in search for a decent belt buckle though as I haven't had much luck with finding one of those just yet.

I did find these boots but I'm not sure if they'd be approvable because of the tiny bit of elastic, if someone with better understanding could advise me on this then that would be very helpful! I could level the top out and remove the bottom buckle.

Also thinking about getting a Gile-44 I found which looks pretty good and is good for the money.

Really glad you are doing this.....The Kona honey is what the detachment sourced as the closest off the shelf we could find.

Tobacco/brown twill is again what the detachment are suggesting, there is only one image of her in the green trousers.

I would go with leather for the belt, it wont cost you much more and you just need to take a few grooves out of it, to get it flush. You can glue it with eco flo glue (also from Tandy leather). I t will last much longer. (and David won't moan at you ) If you get one, get 2 inches.

Its like poes holster, but without the drop.

Rank Badge looks good, just needs the white putting in, perhaps Geoff could advise? Bradley was saying to me about using games workshop paints, a base then the colour you need?


I would try to find some boots without stretch panels, you can always cut off buckles etc and even reuse them for the top strap.....

Thanks for the sources! I will definitely look at the Tandy leather buckle but I don't like using any real leather in my costumes as I don't really agree with the way it's sourced, so I will be using faux leather for this one. I'm sure I can make it work. I will look around more for some boots and post back if I have any luck!

I'm so sorry I forgot you dont use animal products. Have you found a good source for the pleather? Some is better than others, sometimes fabric land has one that's really good.

I think best to stay away from rear zips and studs, I'll check about the stretch panels. It would be good to find a source as the boots are what everyone seems to struggle with.

In respect to the rank badge, it would look closer to refs in you paint the leftmost two silver stripes in white. If it's an aluminium surface then model paint may not adhere too well without priming first. Another option is applying the stripes in white vinyl tape.

Hello all,

Just updating you! I sent my fabric off to the lovely girl who was willing to make my jacket for me! She said it would take no longer than a few days to get together yayyyy! I'm currently in search of a good base pattern for the trousers so I can start working on those and also get started on updating my rank badge too. Ordered the belt buckle from Tandy Leather and just need to get the vinyl and foam to start on the belt. I'm still in desperate search for a pair of boots on the other hand, I did post some possible pairs above but not sure if they'd pass guidelines or anything, if anyone could take a look and advise me on these that'd be great!

As for the rebel starbird on the left breast of her jacket, I'm linking about designing one myself in Photoshop and then printing it on transfer paper, I would paint it on but don't think I have a steady enough hand lol

This is Anyas pattern guide. The base is Mccalls 7547. Its a good high waisted block, otherwise you could pretty much pick any basic trouser pattern on one of the sites.

I'm still waiting for someone to get back to me about the stretch panels. (As its Celebration the judging queues are massive and everyone is heading out there, so everything is taking longer)The top pair look thigh high to me? The second pair look good......just need to add the strap.

You can stencil the starbird, which means just dab the stencil with a sponge. You can print off a rebel sign from the internet and play with the print setting, or scan and reprint at the size you want, then literally cut out the shape.....or you could get vinyl transfer paper and cut it out? the shops that sell the cameo printer things have lots of colours. People have been approved with both I believe.

Ok just for clarity, I have asked if elastic inserts will effect clearence, as I already said I'm waiting for somone to get back to me. You can choose to app in with whatever you want. If you want to ask for yourself you can on the global forum. We can never say anything will 100% clear.

My advice comes from looking at the standard requirements and the references. Her boots are the same in TFA as TLJ
