I've started a wip on the main forum and have hit a road block. My trousers read grey in one light but in another they look very similar to what they are supposed to. No idea how to fix either.

Im trying to sort trousers first anything else will be afterwards.

I've got all the other parts either with me or on order.

Jacket and belt were made by any rushworth. Trousers and shirt by Dafna Sahulson. Gloves and boots on eBay.

They are reading very grey. If it was me, I'd be messaging the person who made them to see if they have any fabric scraps they could send me for dye sampling......or where they got the fabric so I could buy some myself. You will also need to know the content if its poly....if its more then 35% you will need to stove dye with dyemore.

If its mostly cotton/natural fabric.......I'd be looking at sampling with riit dye as its easier to tinker with the recipes. I cut the tops off 4 pints of milk and use those to sample.....I used the recipe for 'socks' with 1 liter of water with a tiny bit of fabric.

I'd start with some thing like this one below... then depending on how it comes out, either tinker with it.....or if its not right trying maybe Spanish olive or olive branch. I usually line up my milk bottles and label them, as I try a few recipes at one time.

Kristina said the cuffs need to match, so you can use the same recipe once you have it right.

I've emailed who made them looking back, she said it was a natural fabric so hopefully the rit will work. I've never dyed anything before.

With ritt its really straight forward. Maybe do the first recipe, then post it up and we can decide how to alter the recipe if it needs it? But to get the sampling right, you need some of the original fabric.

I've messaged her about that so will wait and see. I've got the 3 dyes listed on my watch list to get later once I have more info.

Just heard back from who made them and it's a drill lyrca combination that she got from a local fabric shop in Israel. So unfortunately no samples are available.

But in better news my gloves arrived today.

I've ordered some grey and slate grey lycra twill samples for dye testing along with the needed dyes. Will post pics up when it's all done.

Hi Vicky did you use any masking tape when painting the compass as there is a lot of bleed round the edges which is making your paint look messy.
Normal masking tape maybe too wide but you can get modelling masking tape which isn’t as wide for masking the smaller areas.
