OK, I messed up... i’d latched Honey brown up half of the legs before realising that I hadn’t left enough room to put my stripes up the side of the wookiee’s legs. I couldn’t bear removing all of my work, So I went for a more Chewbacca pattern.
Obviously this means it won’t clear any more, so i’ll have to give things a rethink :(

45 hours work, though :D

You could thin down the grey and add more honey blonde on top so that’s its only a smaller band of grey. Or maybe a more diagonal pattern. You’ll find that the suit will need thinning whatever you do. Can’t believe how much I cut out of mine.

Carrying on from my previous foul-up on the colour scheme, I thought ‘might as well carry on!’.
So had my first try on... went absolutely fine tbh... walking is OK, mask felt good.
I will say that the daughter didn’t do a great job in styling after i’d messed the Wookiee’s face up. Also, he’s looking very “full”.
I’ve since applied heat and brush to the whole outfit to straighten the hair.
The small bare patch on the upper arm has also since been latched. ImageImageImageImageand will kit-up again soon, to see where most thinning is required.

As this won’t clear as Chewie, as some things need changed that I can’t afford right now, and is too close to Chewie to be generic, i’ll just complete the WIP for the sake of completeness :)

Hi Mark,

I’d still try for submission as Chewie. The worst they can say is no but you’ll need to do a bit of work 1st. It needs a serious thinning out. Also I would try thinning the hair on the mask especially at the sides. Hair will also need trimmed around the feet (we don’t want you tripping up). When styling the mask, best thing is to use some Kirby grips under the top layer. Then give it a spray with water before giving it a spray with something like Got2b glued. The final bit of advice it to watch for the ‘stilt bump’ what we refer to when the pouch rests on the leg. I find ice hockey goalie shorts best under the trousers as they let you adjust the padding to stop the recess under the top.

Cheers

Some great advice as ever from Paul. When you thin it out, you'll shed a tear at the amount that will come out but it's all worth it in the end. Chewie is quite thin. I did several 'last cuts' and kept going back for more. Especially under the arms. I must have had a bin bag full. Looks good so far.

Much better but I’d still take a bit more off the arms and tuck in the hair under the the chin before submission.

Cool, just the hair that hangs down under the length of the arms?
Tbh, the hair does cup underneath the chin but doesn’t show very well in these pics.

Can I just post up a pic of the shortened hair on arms or will I need to fully kit-up?

Took about another 2” or so off the arm hair length.... sorry for the crucified wookiee look!

And the chin undercut.

Much better mate. When they review your submission pics, they’re looking to see that snout definition hence why the ask for a close up of the mask along with the other close ups.

For submission you need good quality pics against a plain background. Front, back, left, right, close ups of toes, mask, bandolier, pouch and one with the mask removed. You’ll also need a action pose as well. You then have to put in your submission on the main forum with a detail of the build (I include a link to my build wip on the uk forum) and then wait and see what the judges say. If they think anything needs addressed you’ll have two weeks to rework it.

This should also help http://rebellegion.co.uk/forum/viewtopi ... 384#p10384
