Hera Syndulla S3/4 - WIP (changed from S1/2)

So I finished the shirt. It needs a press, but it's done.



My lekku are out of the box! They're Pam Simpson's silicone Hera's, so I'm rather terrified of doing the tattoos.



And the usual help from Gollum while I try to make the flight cap! Hope lothcat paw prints all over it are ok ! I had bought leatherette for it, but I've been told I will need some heavy stretch with the silicone lekku, so I've bought some heavy scuba from Fabricland - it's good and thick. I'm just about to start the third mock-up!

I'm sure you will be fine with the leku......What paint are you using for the tattoos? and Are you going to stencil or freehand?

Update! This is as far as I'm going to get pre-Celebration! My lekku aren't painted, I don't have boot guards or chaps so I'm using an old pair of boots, but I will finish it off for approval when I get back.

I used Amber Brite's cap pattern as a base, but it took three makes to get it to fit right - I think she must have quite a long head. I'm really pleased with the result.

And I spent an afternoon trying to teach myself Blender so I could 3D print a badge. When I've worked out the kinks I will make the file available.

So a couple of takeaways from fully costuming up for the first time. I did a trial makeup before we went and it worked fine, but over there my skin wouldn't layer up so well, whether it was dried out from the flight and the aircon, or I need a better primer, I don't know, but I will need to work on that - middle aged skin can be temperamental . My trousers need lengthening a couple of inches, which is ok because I left enough fabric to do it, and I need to trim a little off the front of my lekku.

In the Ladies after kitting up my friend for her Pink Trooper day! My daughter was acting as her handler and they made it on to Good Morning America!!


With Space Mom herself, she went into raptures when three of us were at the front of her photo line and ran off to get Dave Filoni!


And someone was out walking the floor in disguise Both of us Heras were a little too "OMG" to take advantage of the situation and I was trying to keep my eye on my daughter at the same time! I had to track the photo down on Twitter ... luckily Tracy Cannobio had taken it so it didn't take too much digging.


I had so much fun. I was stopped so many times for photos and one guy asked me to record a happy birthday message for his niece because Hera is her favourite. Now I need to finish and get submitted for approval.
