Teenies ewok

Post by Teenie » Tue Oct 16, 2018 6:48 pm

Evening again. Been busy this week getting my ewok built and ready for Islandcon. Wasn’t going to get this cleared as I didn’t think it would be up to standard, but Karen has persuaded me to start and WIP and go for clearance when it’s complete. Started it on Sunday and been working on it every day since. I’ve been messing around with padding tonight as it needs it to make it look the right shape, for once I’m not fat enough Image and I’m adding padding! That’s a first for me lol also got the hands to make when the donor gloves arrive and black out the eyes somehow so I can still see!

So anyway, photos below, be kind, as I said it wasn’t going to be an “official” costume so some aspects might need more work

Teenies ewok

OMG that’s terrifying!

Your feet look great to me, but I know nothing about Ewoks so don’t listen to me!

Keep at it though ;)

Trying out some hair products on the fur to make it look more worn/real/lived in/weathered/roughed up/wild etc etc

Will see how each dries and reacts to touch before I decide which I’m going to use

Photo shows the two different products on an off cut of fur and a non treated but below for reference

Donor gloves have arrived so I’ve cut the long nails off and glued the ends shut and once that’s dry and in place I’ll cut what I need out, paint it, and then stick bits to the gloves I’m using as a base that fit my hands. Then cover in fur Image easy right?! ImageImage

Is it the same fur on the body as the face? There is an ewok with the same kind of fur as yours so It would be great if you could put up the main refs you've been using.....if you get the shape right you may not need to 'weather the fur'

As you said currently the suit is looking a little big, they are quite padded out tubby little things, I'd look at more padding before taking it in anywhere. What are you thinking of using for padding/stuffing?

I think the face is great, its scary and cute all at the same time!

Yes same fur on face as suit. I’ve using foam at the moment for round the middle padding. Will keep plodding on. I was going for generic ewok if that’s ok? Want to use real suede so will work with what I’ve got rather than buy more in. Fur was £170 but totally worth it. Like I said was only meant to be a costume for our local comic con lol it’s escalated

It all looks rather unsettling.

Never mind, Halloween is nearly upon us.

If only I had a pound for every time someone's said that .....

I think it's looking fantastic! I agree about the padding - a bit more of a tummy and your Ewok will look more screen accurate. Great work, Katie!
