Belt is constructed: drop boxes have been positioned and then removed for the shim seams to be filled. I found the placement for mine the top screw is 2cm away from the top edge. When it comes to attaching everything together I will screw through into the nappy to help hold everything together.

Filler primer ready for a sand then proper primer:

Chest is all primed. I stupidly glued the details in place before spraying. As they are grey should of left them off like the other parts as it would of given me a cleaner paint job but it’ll be fine.
Image

Got the first coat of white on the torso (looks a lot greyer on the photo):
Image

Starting to see a bit of a finish line in sight with this. Once the white is on these parts it is painting the blue on the chest, weathering, clear coat, assembly might be ready for a kit up.

Almost ready for a kit up :dt:
Added the detailing to the chest. I have added the sizes of how I have done it on the tape for people to see roughly how I did it.

Weathered and clear coated:

Nappy/belt finished (I have since added the end caps to the TD but forgot to take a photo) The belt is attached to the nappy only via the screws that hold the belt boxes in place. The TD screws are through the belt only.

There has been some discussion over on the CTD forums about the rear rim of the 501st grunt helmets being white now grey. I have got screen shots to agree with this so I have updated the paint on the lid. Will take some pictures of my updated one later.

Here is my post from the CTD so everyone can see reference I got:
“ I believe also that the rear rim is in shadow give the shapes of the helmet more definition.
Here are the screen shots I have taken. They are from S6 Ep1 - the unknown.

Best one:

This one shows it’s the same sort of colour as the rear section of the helmet:

This one is a little confusing at first glance as the rear rim but it’s the same sort of colour to the cheek indent so guessing its to give the section a clear indication that its deeper in the helmet.

So to give an update on here. Just when I thought I was at the end disaster struck. Was about to get kitted up and the lid fell on the floor  to say I was devastated would be and understatement. So had to leave it for a few days.
Image

So to fix I have glued the crack and reinforced it from the inside. I thought I could get away with just repainting the area of where it was cracked. I managed to get the white to soften but couldn’t get the weathering to blend together over the new paint. So unfortunately had to re do the whole thing which took a lot of sanding. So currently everything is painted white, blue detailing is on and weathered. Waiting on the tube stripe decals from Kev in the US before I can dirty it up and finish it.

So from the feedback from the CTD forums was the shape on the chest detail was wrong so had to sand back and redo that. It now is correct:

Here is the detentions I was provided:

That helmet crack nearly made me sick... Im so gutted for you.

*Scurries off to find a padded bag and a roll of bubble wrap....*

Major props for carrying on so soon - I'd def have needed cooling off time...

Thanks both. I’ll be honest I wanted to shoot myself in the face when I heard it fall let alone when I saw the crack. Just got to wait for the remaining bits to turn up before I can get it finished.

Well done for bringing it back mate, not easy to pick up and carry on after that, nicely caught on the “A” detail as well

The helmet has been sorted.
To fix it I had to completely strip it back to resin, repair the crack then reprise and paint the whole thing. The process took a little while as I had to wait for new tube stripe decals from Kev and there is a big delay with postage due to the virus.

Hopefully will try and get some clear pictures fully kitted up in the next few days. Hopefully I won’t break anything else in the mean time.

Great job Josh! It was a massive shame about the drop and damage but you’ve rescued it and it looks good as new!

Well after 2 attempts of getting the kit on, the first taking me 3 hours before I rage quit, I managed to get a couple of kitted up photos. Not 100% happy with how things are sitting so currently waiting for a few bits of E6000 to dry before attempting another kit up.
Front:
Image
Here I need to address the belly make sure that is sitting straight so the top ridge sits nicely under the chest. Also need to align the legs a little better and maybe lift the shoulder bells up a tad.

Back:

Sides:

Think it could be worth adding a bit more padding to the thighs to pull them tighter to the front, also some padding to the shins to push them out.

Fingers crossed I can get the positioning better on the next kit up photo. Though it’s a bit of a pain in the arse doing by yourself.
