Aqualish Pilot question

Post by Jeditid » Tue Aug 13, 2019 4:20 pm

I have asked the same question on the RL main forum but had no response in 2 weeks so.......

I have a cleared Generic Xwing costume and just wondered if I could add an Aqualish head and hands and clear that as well.

I am cleared with 501st as Ponda Baba with the "werewolf" hands variation and so thought I could maybe mash the two up and be an Aqualish pilot ?

If this is possible is there anything else I may need to do ? ie do you need Ref pics etc

They like to see at least a few examples of the species in the outfit just to be sure.
Hope that helps mate

That’s correct, we can’t be the lead judge during the formal submission process but we can comment on submission and can obviously advise members and new members.

As Phil has said references would be useful and off hand I can’t think of a specific pilot...Alex Townsend is pretty down with many non standard pilots so I’ll check with him as well.

But I’ll double check with the judges as I don’t recall seeing any not to say Mark couldn’t be the first.

The usual thing would apply; ensuring the alien parts are accurate and of a high standard and that when worn with either his X-wing flightsuit or snowspeeder jacket that the alien components fit and no flaps or seams from the mask are visable.

That's cool then......I wasn't meaning to undermine, just check because of the differences in judging.

I don't recall any Aqualish pilots in the old EU - the post-RotJ Rogue Squadron comics are probably the richest visual source of non-human pilots but I'm struggling to remember any.

My personal thoughts would be that if the basic body shape is humanoid and without any additional appendages (like a tail for instance) I would imagine what would be ok for a Rodian, Quarren, Sullustan etc should be ok here as well. But at the end of the day there's that line between what could be allowed because it is "imagineable", and what should be allowed because there is a reference for it.

There are no references to an Aqualish pilot that I can find - although I did see a post on the main forum from a judge saying that aliens are allowed and as long as the masks were of sufficient quality etc pretty much OK and so hence why I asked for clarity there first.

Should I kit up and submit and see what happens ??
