Interesting work on the blaster. Those grips if they're flat could also be 3d modelled I'd predict.

The soft kit is interesting as Mr Walker of this parish also does a good line in natty hats.
Happiness is a warm A280. Or A300. Even a Glie-44 at a pinch.

The wooden grips that I'm thinking of replacing are just a couple of pieces of balsa wood with a cut down screw through them.

Another blaster rifle update.
I have done the basics of the rear of the body which has now allowed me to stick the butt plate on. Also the grips have been replaced with neater plain ones.

More detailing has been done on the body, including the ejection port of the original rifle.
body.jpg
Using two pieces of 0.5mm thick plasticard I have done the basic detail of the fore end (two pieces needed because every measurement I took turned out to be wrong and I gave up trying to do it with one piece). Also a length of plastic pipe to be used as the additional foregrip has been added, braced with a length of wood inside.

With the grip section now glued on as well it is starting to look like a rifle.

Really nice work across the board Stephen!

Grenades and rank badge all look good, and well done on scoring the MOD-style buckle.

Googles look fine as well. You should be fine with the amber lenses, though the standards specify yellow or light amber, not sure if yours might be a bit too dark.

Hat looks great, and I had a lol at making laminated paper inserts to keep the peaks stiff as that's exactly what I did with mine! Also anyone who can survive the ordeal that is bias binding deserves eternal respect.

Rifle also coming on really well - keep up the good work.

Thanks. The colour of the lenses has been a concern. I've been looking for suitably coloured plastic just in case I need to replace them.
I also made the greeblies for the front of the vest but they came out a bit too big so I'm going to redo those from scratch.
Other soft parts are underway. I've done some boot covers and had the knees of some trouser padded. The vest is currently being made which then just leaves the jacket and a few other greeblies.

That looks really good Stephen, well done. Like I say you may have been ok with the darker orange, but this looks much closer. Good work!

I've just been checking TESB for more images of the Hoth rifle, which it seems is never seen from the left hand side. While watching I noticed what was hanging up in the Echo Base medical centre, they look like the jackets worn by trench troopers
but they are obviously hung up by a hood.

Later in the trench a trooper looks to have a hood sticking out from under the back pack vest.

Should the jacket have a hood?
Also if anyone has any good images of the rifle from the left side it would be appreciated.

I've made a holster currently takes my RFT issue DH-17 though I hope to make an ESB version so made the holster with that in mind.

Plus I've made more progress on the rifle. I've rebuilt the stock twice and now I think all it needs is the scope and filling of gaps before it gets painted.

Good work on the rifle!

Also good work on the holster. Not sure if you've seen it, but this pic is reasonably good for DH-17 holster refs.

And yes the jacket does have a hood attached to the collar. It's up to you whether to include it as it's 99.9% of the time obscured, and it's not part of the CRL. Me and hoods don't have a very good relationship, so I elected not to include it on mine, although I may add it in the future some time.

Thanks. That is the same image I used when planning my holster. Of course all those trooper have the ESB version of the DH17 that I still plan to add later, after the rifle is done.

The rifle with scope added and detailed.

All that remains is to fill some gaps with milliput and to paint it.
Given that one of the reasons for making this was the wright concern of a replica Stg44 I tried weighing it on a set of bathroom scales - it is too light to even register.

I've also put together some other greeblies as well. The hat mounted comm box and also the glove mounted one.
