Scarif Marine WIP

Post by SirCalcium » Thu Oct 04, 2018 5:21 pm

We've got 5 Scots on Scarif, why not join them

Having been looking at both the Standards and Screencaps of Rogue One, I've decided to go for a Gorka variant, combining elements of Jav Mafren and Eskro Casrish.

So far I have

A Gorka 3

Coyote BDU trousers

Sten Machine Carbine Magazine sash-style bandolier

and a Olive Green roll pin style PLCE belt with:
French Grenade pouch, 58 Pattern style Kidney Pouches, and a 58 Pattern style ammo pouch

All good so far.

Picking up the bits off the shelf is quite handy for these.

Good start Calum, looking forward to seeing this progress.

At this rate, I'll be the only Scot not on Scarif!

Thanks Geoff
Alex, for all we know you were above Scarif

Anyway, since I've got piles of vinyl leather at home, I've made a mock up of the Anklet Style Cuff Gaitars worn by Casrick and Melshi.
Note. These are my dad's boots, I'll be looking for correct coloured boots

Black or brown works, matching gaiter to boot colour. Most of the clear boot shots look like brown is more common.

I would Claire, but my dad does use them and they're abit too small.
So I've got my own Chelsea boots in brown and made the Anklet cuff gaiter thingys

And I got a bowl too, aka a replica M1 helmet. Just need to know what sort of fabric to use for the cover and get the shield

Edit. turns out it's just the liner not a shell

I have been meaning to try my fabric topper and armour ring to see how it fits onto the liner alone. Saves weight that way. The ring might be a bit big but I've been meaning to print a new one at some very distant point in the future.

Well I've had an idea. I'm going to try and make a shell out of EVA foam

Behold, a crudly made foam shell. I'll look for some filler and sand it down to a smoother finish, then see where to go from here ImageImage

When I had a go at making an M1 type helmet and outer ring I used three "Kombat" brand plastic replicas. One for the shell and the other two for the ring. Obviously I don't have the ribbing on top of the cover yet.

Took time to think more on the helmet.
Foam shell. Dead end.
I saw a fibreglass one for sale on eBay, got it and it doesn't fit my liner completely, give or take a 15mm gap.ImageImage
